The Invitation of Foreign Youth to Japan Program – 2007

The Invitation of Foreign Youth to Japan Program is an international cultural exchange program hosted by the Government of Japan. The aim of the program is to promote mutual friendship and understanding between Japanese youth and foreign youth, as well as to improve understanding of Japan, to cultivate a spirit of international cooperation, and to broaden the international viewpoints of Japanese youth.

The Government of Japan is inviting a delegation of eight Canadian youth for three weeks (July 11-31, 2004) to visit Japan and meet with 100 international youth from ten countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cambodia, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Marshall Islands, Mozambique, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste). They will participate in cross-cultural exchange activities, an international youth conference, discussion groups and homestay visits in Japan.

Participating youth must be Canadian citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 years old. One Canadian leader will also be selected for each delegation.

Interested applicants should carefully read the attached documents, fill out the attached application form, send a copy of their resume, and write an essay of up to 500 words on why they would be a good candidate for the program, what they can bring to the program, and what they hope to gain from the experience.
