Welcome Consul General Ito!

2009 October – The Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia is pleased to welcome Japan’s new Consul General to Vancouver.  Consul General Hideki Ito comes to us with a varied background and particular experience in the Middle East.  A brief resume of his previous postings follows:

March 1979            Graduated from University of Tokyo (Faculty of Law)

April 1979              Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

December 1993     First Secretary, Embassy of Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

January 1996         Promoted to Counsellor

December 1996     Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Japan to the UN (New York)

July 1999               Director, Training Division, Self Defence Agency

August 2001          Director, UN Administration Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

August 2003          Minister, Embassy of Japan, Islamic Republic of Iran

August 2005          Deputy Director-General, Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau

September 2007    Minister, Embassy of Japan, Kingdom of Bahrain
