Join the Vancouver Mokuyokai Society and Kiyukai who, together with the City of Vancouver, celebrate the “Pulse to the Podium,” by folding 1,000 origami cranes in each of the five Olympic colours and would like to display it in a venue that Olympic and Paralympic visitors from around the world will be able to see.
The purpose of the 5,000 cranes is to support the athletes coming from around the world in their competitions and to wish them luck in achieving their goals. We want to encourage people in the Lower Mainland to participate in this visual display of their support for all of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes. We also want to teach this part of Japanese culture to the community at large by having them participate in the crane folding experience, and write a message to the athletes in any language on the crane. Please join us at Pulse to the Podium to learn to fold an origami crane, or fold as may cranes as you can!
