37th Annual Canada-Japan Society / Konwakai Golf Tournament and Dinner

Grand Prize winner Numano congratulated by Golf Tournament Chair Mark (L) and Air Canada’s Davies (R)

For the past 37 years, The Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia has hosted an annual golf tournament — and over the past nine years this tournament has been jointly hosted by our friends at the Japanese Businessmen’s Association of Vancouver (Konwakai).  This year’s tournament was held on Sunday, September 9 at Meadow Gardens Golf Club and the day was cool and drizzly, but that did not seem to dampen the spirits of our golfers.

The 55 participants of the Annual Golf Tournament and Dinner enjoyed a wonderful day and among our many prize winners were:

o        Low gross and longest drive winner Hiroshi Jitsumasa

o        Low net and closest-to-the-pin winner (on 2 of 4 holes) Yosuke Iwamoto;

o        2nd low net winner Jamil Karimani;

o        3rd low net winner Hank Oostveen; and

o        Other closest-to-the-pin winners: Yohsuke Kotoh and Shigeru Goda.

The Grand Prize was won this year by Hiroyuki Numao, and he won two round trip tickets to Japan, courtesy of Air Canada.

As always, a very significant component of our annual Tournament and Dinner was the number and quality of our golf and door prizes, all kindly donated by members and friends of the Canada-Japan community.  On behalf of the Golf Tournament Organizing Committee, the Tournament and Dinner participants, and members and directors of the Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia, our warm thanks for to the following organizations and individuals for their kind and generous contributions.
