Fifty-Six Historic BC Japanese-Canadian Places Recognized by the Province

April 1st, 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the internment of Japanese Canadians in British Columbia when more than 22,000 Japanese-Canadians were forcibly removed from the BC coast and incarcerated in camps.  To mark the occasion, the Province of BC has officially recognized 56 sites, selected from a list of 264 nominated places.
