On January 10th, 2022, Mr. Ryo Tokunaga will join the BC Tokyo Office as the Managing Director for Japan. Ryo will oversee BC’s trade and investment portfolio and further the long standing relationship with the Japanese business community.
Ryo joins the BC Tokyo Office from the Embassy of Canada to Japan where he was the Senior Investment Officer playing an instrumental role in supporting Japanese companies to seek innovation partnerships and enter the Canadian market. Prior to joining the Canadian Government, he worked on the international research partnership files at Mitacs Inc., and has a decade long career in the Japanese foreign service.
Ryo earned a law degree from Hitotsubashi University and a MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University. He resides with his family in Tokyo, and enjoys trail running and tennis.
