On July 17, 2019, Dr. Stephen Nagy addressed Society members in a very interesting and thoughtful presentation about: Japanese political, economic and regional leadership; his concerns regarding leadership succession in Japan, China, Korea and other parts of Asia; and how Canada and Japan might be more engaged.

Dr. Stephen G Nagy is a Senior Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan.  In December 2017, he was selected as a Distinguished Fellow at Canada’s Asia Pacific Foundation.  He is also a Fellow with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI).  Originally from Calgary, Alberta, he obtained his PhD from Waseda University, Japan, in International Relations in December 2008, worked as a Research Associate at the University’s Institute of Asia Pacific Studies from October 2007 to November 2009, and was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Japanese Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from December 2009 to January 2014.
