The Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia supports all efforts to increase awareness of the potential impact of Tsunami debris, including potentially contaminated marine debris and marine debris generated by the Japanese tsunami of March 2011.

Towards this end, members and interested parties are directed to the Japan Tsunami Marine Debris Joint Information Centre at  http://disasterdebris.wordpress.com/ and the California Coastal Commission ‘Volunteer Removal Guidelines’ which have been developed in support of the California Tsunami Marine Debris Multiagency Advisory Coordination Group (MAC-G) with the goal of providing technical support to local, state, and federal agencies and non-profit volunteer organizations tasked with removing debris.
