TOKYO (Kyodo)–Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will make a three-day visit to Japan this weekend, with free trade issues expected to top the agenda during a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Yoshihiko Noda, a Foreign Ministry official said Wednesday.

Harper will hold talks with Noda on Sunday, the official said, adding that the Canadian premier plans to visit Sendai, one of the Japanese cities hit hard by a powerful earthquake and tsunami about a year ago. The following day, Harper will leave for Seoulto attend the Nuclear Security Summit.

Japan and Canada are planning to launch official talks on a bilateral free trade agreement, after the two countries recently completed a joint study on such accord.
