The Pink Tie Affair

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is proud to announce an exciting new cultural tourism initiative for our city in celebration of Vancouver’s 36,000 Japanese flowering cherry trees. Founded as a non-profit society in British Columbia in 2005 and granted charitable status in 2007 under the Income Tax Act, this engaging festival has grown to encapsulate Vancouver’s beauty, diversity, and creativity in a new spirit of global friendship.

In its inaugural year Mayor Sam Sullivan proclaimed “March” as the month to honor the cherry tree which inspires new poetry, music, art, fibre arts, cuisine, photography, film, and more!

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival welcomes you to the third annual city-wide cherry blossom celebration this spring, capturing the exuberance of the blossoming with new cultural programming including the Cherry Jam Downtown concert, Haiku Invitational, Plein-air Blossom Painting, Haiku Garden, BC Blossom Watch, self guided walks with the Cherry Blossom Viewing Map and Picnic, The Cherry Trolley Tours, Bike the Blossoms, and The Pink Tie Affair. There are so many unique ways to enjoy this exciting celebration which you can discover on the festival website. Uplifting city spirits, the ephemeral nature of the blossoms remind us all to take time to celebrate life now.
